چکیده
Abstract Obtaining a strong bond between aluminum and steel is challenging due to poor wettability melt brittle intermetallic phases forming in the interface. In this research, novel coating method, namely hot dipping of Sn, has been developed treat insert surfaces. Results show that without preheating mold or Sn-coated insert, thin, crack-free, continuous metallurgical bonding layer was achieved A356 aluminum/steel compound castings. Intermetallic structures interface have characterized detail. The Sn-coating completely melted mixed with liquid during casting process. reaction at composed ternary Al–Fe–Si particles thin binary Al 5 Fe 2 phase thickness less than 1 µ m. Effect of Welding Heat Input on the Intermetallic Compound Layer and Mechanical Properties in Arc Welding-brazing Dissimilar Joining of Aluminum Alloy to Galvanized Steel
The effect of weld heat input on the formation of intermetallic compound (IMCs) layer during arc welding–brazing of aluminium and steel dissimilar alloys, was investigated through both finite element method (FEM) numerical simulations and experimental measurements. The results of FEM analysis as well as welding experiments indicated that increasing weld heat input increases the thickness of IMC...

متن کاملMathematical Modeling of Heat Transfer for Steel Continuous Casting Process
Heat transfer mechanisms and the solidification process are simulated for a continuous casting machine and the geometric shape of the liquid pool is predicted considering different conditions. A heat transfer and solidification model is described for the continuous casting of steel slabs. The model has been established on the basis of the technical conditions of the slab caster in the con...

Compound casting refers to a process that used to produce bimetals. This study investigates the interface of Mo40/C93200 that is produced by compound casting process. In this research, molten bronze is poured around steel core, interaction between liquid and solid creates a diffusion zone and followed by a transition layer which leads to the creation of diffused region between the interfaces of...
